Welcome to the Bauen Camp!

Dear Parents & Guardians,

As a parent of 4 and a grandmother of 5, I know how important it is to find a safe and nurturing place for your kids to be during the summer. As an artist and the founder of the Bauen Camp, I also know the value of art and naturein apersons life, particularly those of developingyoung adults ages 13-18.At Bauen, we strive to provide your child witha safe and nurturing environment created by well-trainedand talented staff and artists. With a 1:3 adult child ratio,campers experiencean intimatesetting by participating in a small multi-disciplinary artist community of no more than36 teens and 12 adults. Campers live inlog cabin style tents with9 bunkbeds, accommodating 18 people. There is a bathhouse a few steps away with showers, toilets and sinks. Art space includes the 70 plus acres of the camp's ranch, located against the Big Horn National Forest, and including the Art Barn, outdoor porches, TeePee, and 2 Meeting Tents (visit THE PLACE for moredetails).

Homecooked meals are fixed in the Virginia C. Mars Kitchen and eaten family style outside under a tent. Everyone helps our camp cook with setting the table and clean up. Campers spend their days in small group, large group and one-on-one art instruction, as well as gather for a game of basketball, free art time, chess, volleyball, a hike or a river swim on a hot day (visit THE EXPERIENCE for more details). I've been fortunate to live a full life as a parent and an artist, and through the support of many volunteers and donors, I am fortunate enough to encourage young adults to explore their art and community at Bauen. It is myhope, through this camp, that I can share the power of art and community with nominated teens from all over the U.S. and world.Join me and a wonderful cast of characters for a life changing experience this summer!
