Scholarship Information

The goal of the Bauen Camp is to build a diverse camp community – campers, staff and volunteers from a variety of backgrounds and geographic areas. What we have in common is our creative spirits, our love of the arts and nature and our belief that with our art skills we have the possibility of building better communities and a better world. Some campers pay full fare and transportation and come from very far away places. Others may live closer and are on full scholarships. All work hard to raise the $200 we require each campers to pay toward their camp fees. Car-washes, baby-sitting, a group spaghetti dinner, painting a mural in a doctors office and cleaning house for a grandparent are just some of the ways previous campers have raised funds.

The Bauen Camp will help any interested and qualified camper seek funding to attend the Bauen Camp. Right now is the right time to begin! We work with the prospective camper and their family to help identify organizations and institutions in their own community, state or country who may be responsive to their requests for help with the camp fee and transportation. We also ask parents and guardians of scholarship campers to contribute $200 toward the camp fee. We also require that all campers submit a letter of nomination. Whoever writes that letter for you thinks a lot of you and is a good resource for funding help, too. The sponsoring organizations and institutions in our National Youth Artist Outreach Project located in five focus areas – New York City, Minneapolis, Chicago, Denver and the State of Wyoming – nominate twelve students from each focus area; these groups are committed to selecting outstanding students and helping to support their camp fees and transportation. The Bauen Camp also provides limited scholarships, which are funded by others who donate to our Scholarship Fund.
